Wizkid’ The Highest Paid African Artist in the World – Africa Facts Zone


Wizkid, one of the biggest African Artist, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Wizkid is the most decorated Nigerian artiste ever and the most decorated African internationally.

WizKid started his recording music at age 11 and in 2009, he signed a record deal with Banky W’s record label, Empire Mates Entertainment, and he rose to prominence in 2010.

Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, “ One Dance”, which reached number one in 15 countries, including th USA, UK, Canada and Australia.

The African artist is said to have performed during a royal wedding at one of the world’s top private residences, Umaid Bhawan Palace in India.

He was reported to have been paid 50 million Rupees ($681,200, N245.9 million) to give a live performance, and he got Indians dancing to his hit songs.

As of 2018, it was reported that Wizkid charges a whopping sum of 30 million naira ($78,000) for a show in Nigeria, plus a private jet in some ‘special’ cases.

We also gathered that Wizkid charges $130,000 for foreign shows.

In August 2019, Wizkid signed the biggest endorsement deal in Africa with United Bank of Africa (UBA).

The deal was worth a whopping sum of $3million, that is over 1billion naira.

It was the first billion naira endorsement deal in the history of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Also in 2019, according to a report on the website of the Grammy Awards, Wizkid signed the biggest deal yet by an African music star with RCA Records in 2016 for an undisclosed fee.

WizKid is currently ranked 4th on Forbes richest African artist.

In 2014 he became the first Nigerian musician to have over one million twitter followers.

WizKid is also the only African act with the highest streaming numbers on Spotify.

The feature with Drake on “One Dance” made Wizkid become the first Afrobeats artist to appear in the 2018 Guinness World Records for his contribution to the hit song.
