Burna Boy’s African Giant is the Most Streamed African album on Audiomack ever. It had 82 million streams on Audiomack as of March 27, 2020 before it was restricted by handler. It is also the most streamed African album on Spotify with over 200 million streams.
According to Billboard Africa, his critically acclaimed “African Giant” album is the most-streamed album in Africa.
The 19 track album features amazing sounds from Angelique Kidjo, Damian Marley, M.anifest, Jeremih, Future, YG, Jorja Smith and Serani.
‘African Giant’ was also nominated for the 2020 Grammy Awards in the Best World Music Album category, and won the category for Album of the year at the recently concluded All Africa Music Awards (AAMA).
Born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu (born 2 July 1991), known professionally as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He rose to fame in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013).
Burna boy stormed the music industry in 2010 and eventually worked his way to the top after two years, carving a niche for himself as one of Nigeria’s fast-rising star to watch out for.
The singer ended the year 2013 with one nomination and two awards. He won the Best Pop award for his song “Like to Party” at the South-South Music Awards Best Pop and the Best New Act of the Year at the Nigerian Entertainment Award for himself. He was nominated for Next Rated at the 2013 Headies but didn’t win the award
In 2017, Burna Boy signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally. His third studio album Outside marked his major-label debut. In 2019, he won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards, and was announced as an Apple Music Up Next artist.
His fourth studio album African Giant was released in July 2019. it won Album of the Year at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards and was nominated for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
