Riyad Mahrez a professional football player for Manchester City of the Premier League and the Algerian national team, was born on February 21, 1991.

Mahrez, a French native, started his professional career with Le Havre, where he made 67 appearances over a three-year span.

By the end of his first season after joining Leicester in 2013, he had assisted them in gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Even though they began the season as 5000-1 underdogs, Leicester won the championship with ease after a good finish in 2014–15 kept them from being relegated.

In the league, he scored 17 goals and made 10 assists, earning him the title of PFA Players’ Player of the Year. He also received the BBC African Player of the Year and African Player of the Year awards.

In the season that followed, he earned Champions League experience. He left the Foxes after 179 appearances and 48 goals.

Riyad Mahrez at Manchester City

He made his City debut in the August 2018 victory against Arsenal on opening day and netted his first goal in the September 5-0 triumph over Cardiff City.

Mahrez scored the decisive third goal against Brighton, a powerful drive into the top corner, moving City ahead of Liverpool into second place. The Premier League was not won until the last day.

In his second season with the team, Mahrez played a key role once more, making 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals, and helping City win the Carabao Cup.

In his third season with the Blues, Riyad added additional hardware to his trophy cabinet.

With 48 games and 14 goals, he won the Carabao Cup twice and the Premier League twice.

Mahrez’s goals were crucial in helping City reach the Champions League final as well.

And the Algerian was the leading scorer with 24 goals from 47 games when the season came to a close in 2021/22.

After an outstanding season, he was a close second in the voting for the Etihad Player of the Season.

When he assisted Kevin De Bruyne in the 4-1 victory against Liverpool in April 2023, the Algerian became the most prolific African player in Premier League history with the most assists.

Mahrez also assisted Manchester City in winning the Premier League for the third consecutive year, capping off another memorable year with City as the first African Player to win the Premier League 5 times.
