Karimot Odebode, one of the United Nations’ 17 Young Leaders for Sustainable Development Goals, has been recognized globally for her remarkable contributions to advocacy. With a law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) & over five years of advocacy experience, Karimot has continued her educational journey by pursuing a master’s degree in Education Policy and Analysis at Harvard University. Her commitment to driving change has positioned her as a significant figure globally. Karimot represented her university in debate competitions & was recognized as a semifinalist in the President’s Innovation Challenge at Harvard.
Another shining star is Peace Bello, who graduated as the best student in the Department of Chemical Engineering at OAU. With an impressive CGPA of 4.82/5.00, Peace has earned numerous accolades, including the Lever Brothers Prize & the MTN Foundation Scholarship. His leadership was instrumental in his department’s victory in the AIChE ChemESport Petroskills Simulation Competition, demonstrating his exceptional academic & practical skills. He has been involved in committees like the Planet Positive 2030 Committees and the UN SDG7 Youth Constituency.
Roseline Adewuyi, another distinguished OAU alumna, has made significant strides in education and gender advocacy. Featured in the UN publication “Breaking Gender Barriers through Education” in April 2024, Roseline is a PhD student in French Literature with a Graduate Concentration in Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Purdue University. Roseline graduated with first-class honors from OAU as the best female graduating student in the faculty of Arts. Before her PhD studies, she served as a translator & interpreter with the African Union. At Purdue, her accolades include the Student of the Year Award. Six Nigerians made it, and we are delighted that there were three OAU alumni. These outstanding OAU alumni exemplify excellence and global impact, bringing honor to their alma mater.
