President of Egypt El-Sisi & Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Discuss Sudan, GERD and Bilateral Ties in Cairo meeting:
Sisi and Ahmed spoke about ways to resolve the Sudanese situation during their discussion on the margins of the Sudan Neighboring States Summit, which Cairo will host on Thursday.
They also talked about the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) project’s advancements.

Ethiopian-Egyptian ties
Due to disagreements over Ethiopia’s GERD on the Blue Nile, relations between Egypt and Ethiopia have deteriorated over the past few years.
Ethiopia intends to independently complete the fourth filling of the dam’s reservoir by September despite Egyptian and Sudanese worries about doing so without coming to a legally binding agreement.
The leaders of Egypt, Libya, Chad, Central Africa, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, as well as delegates from Sudan, met in Cairo ahead of the Sudan Neighboring States Summit, which will be held in the Egyptian capital.
According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on 6 July, almost 700,000 individuals from Sudan, including citizens of Sudan and other third countries, have entered Egypt, Ethiopia, and other surrounding countries since the crisis there began on April 15.

Summit of Sudan’s Neighboring States
The meeting aims to examine measures to put an end to the ongoing conflict and its detrimental effects on surrounding nations.
The Egyptian Presidency declared this week that the summit intends to create efficient methods to resolve the Sudanese situation peacefully and in collaboration with other regional and international tracks.
The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has raged since mid-April and claimed hundreds of lives, uprooted millions of people and forced hundreds of thousands of Sudanese to flee their country for neighboring states, is one that the world is hoping will be resolved at the summit.
According to the Al-Sudani news website, the Sudanese delegation will be led by Malik Agar, the Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), and include Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan.
Egypt has consistently urged Sudan to implement a long-term ceasefire, which would allow for a peaceful resolution of the current war and put an end to the carnage.
The Presidency emphasized Sisi’s eagerness to develop a shared vision for Sudan’s surrounding states on Sunday.
Sisi is also eager to take action to resolve the crisis, put an end to the slaughter in Sudan, and protect the Sudanese people from its effects.
The Presidency also emphasized its desire to safeguard the Sudanese state and its resources and put a stop to the disastrous repercussions of the crisis on both the security and stability of the region as a whole.
