The Grand Theatre of Rabat Morocco, Africa’s Largest Theatre
The Grand Theatre of Rabat is the largest theater in the Arab world and Africa, measuring 47,000 square meters, giving Morocco’s capital a new facet.
The theatre, which functions as a multipurpose cultural facility and was created by the late Iraqi avant-garde architect Zaha Hadid (1950–2016).
It is a component of an expansive national cultural development initiative launched by Moroccan King Mohammed VI for creative and cultural renewal.

The magnificent theater is a component of the Bouregreg Valley Development Project, which King Mohammed VI began in January 2006.
It is situated on the left side of the Bouregreg Valley next to Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. On both banks of the Bouregreg River, it intends to alter the urban environment.
The Grand Theatre of Rabat features a portion dedicated to artistic revival and entertainment that will hold significant national and international artistic and cultural events in an effort to revitalize the city’s cultural life.
The venue holds opera and theater acts in its sizable 2,000-seat auditorium, which features cutting-edge audiovisual amenities.

The Grand Theatre of Rabat Capacity
The Grand Theatre of Rabat has a sizable outdoor theater that can accommodate 7,000 guests for events and festivals that are cultural and artistic.
In addition to a number of unique services and outside amenities including parking, green areas, a restaurant with panoramic views, stores, cafés, and a bookshop, it also have a second hall with roughly 520 seats.
The opening of the Mohammed VI Theater in Oujda in July 2014 marked the beginning of a new generation of significant theaters, which includes the Great Theatre of Rabat.
The Grand Theatre of Casablanca, the cultural complex of Fez, and the cultural complex of Tangiers are additional to the Mohammed VI Theater and the Great Theatre of Rabat.
As part of Morocco’s initiatives to expand the theater industry and emphasize the importance of culture in attaining development, all of these locations were built.
Estimated Cost of Building The Grand Theatre of Rabat
120 million euros is the estimated cost of the project, which is 1.35 billion Moroccan dirhams.
